Hey everyone! Welcome back to the blog! Today, I’m sharing something super exciting—my 12-book reading list for 2025! These aren't necessarily must-reads (though some may be!), but a mix of titles that have caught my eye, sparked my curiosity, or just feel like a perfect fit for this new chapter in my life as a new mom.
I haven’t read them all yet, but I’m already pumped to dive in. And hey, if you're looking for even more book ideas, I’ve compiled a full list here.
Let’s jump right into it!
watch a video about it here
1. Becoming by Michelle Obama
First up: Becoming by Michelle Obama. As a new mom, I’m super curious about Michelle’s journey—how she balanced family life while navigating all the monumental changes that came with being the First Lady. Her story is full of lessons on resilience, personal growth, and staying true to yourself, which I’m especially excited to dive into as I navigate my own shift in priorities.
2. Dare to Lead by Brené Brown
Next up: Dare to Lead by Brené Brown. If you're not familiar with her, Brené Brown is a thought leader on vulnerability, courage, and leadership. This book is all about leading with empathy and creating a culture of trust—something I’m passionate about fostering in my professional life.
3. Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl
Man’s Search for Meaning explores finding purpose, even in the most difficult circumstances. I started it last year but found it a bit too heavy given the world’s state at the time. But I’m excited to finish it in 2025 and really reflect on what truly matters.
4. Level Up by Rob Dial
Level Up by Rob Dial is another book I’m looking forward to. If you’ve heard Rob’s podcast, The Mindset Mentor, you’ll know he’s all about taking control of your future and making bold moves to reach your potential. As I transition from a career-focused routine to one that centers more on family, this book will help me think about how to still progress in my career goals, even with shifting priorities.
5. Feel Good Productivity by Ali Abdaal
Now, I’m all about balance, especially when it comes to productivity. Feel Good Productivity by Ali Abdaal is a game-changer for anyone looking to get things done without burning out. As my productivity needs shift in 2025, I’m excited to learn how to work smarter, not harder, and still protect my well-being!
6. How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie
A classic: How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. I’m revisiting this one because I think it’ll really help me sharpen my communication skills as I navigate the changes in my personal life and re-enter the workforce after maternity leave. If you’re looking to improve how you connect with others, this book is a must-read!
7. How to Hug a Porcupine by Dr. Debbie Ellis
Okay, confession: I totally judged this book by its cover, and I don’t regret it! How to Hug a Porcupine by Dr. Debbie Ellis uses playful metaphors to teach you how to handle tough personalities with patience, empathy, and humor. Whether it's family, coworkers, or anyone in between, this is a lighthearted yet practical guide to navigating difficult interactions!
8. Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus by John Gray
This book was a gift from a dear friend, and I’m finally ready to dive into it. Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus explores the differences between different types of people in relationships and communication. With all the changes in our life as new parents, I’m curious to see how I can strengthen my relationship with my husband through better understanding.
9. How to Be a Bawse by Lilly Singh
You might recognize Lilly Singh from her hilarious YouTube days! I remember Lilly from her early YouTube years and I was SO excited when I discovered she wrote a book. How to Be a Bawse is all about building confidence, embracing setbacks, and owning your inner boss. If you need some inspiration to kick ass in 2025, this one’s for you!
10. The Conscious Parent by Shefali Tsabary
This one’s a little different. The Conscious Parent by Shefali Tsabary focuses on mindful parenting—something that’s especially important to me as I navigate motherhood. It’s all about self-awareness and being present, which is honestly something I think we all need, whether we’re parents or not. And let’s face it, Production often is like parenting. Am I right?
11. We Were Dreamers by Simu Liu
My husband can’t stop raving about We Were Dreamers by Simu Liu, so of course, it’s on my list for next year! In this memoir, Simu shares his journey from growing up in Canada to making it big in Hollywood. His story is full of perseverance, overcoming racism, and chasing dreams, and I’m excited to see how his experiences resonate with me. I already have a feeling that I’ll be able to relate to it a lot.
12. Meditations by Marcus Aurelius
Finally, Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. This collection of personal reflections is a guide to stoicism, teaching you how to live with integrity, accept the things you can’t change, and focus on what you can control. As someone working in Production, this mindset is something I could definitely use more of, and I think it will provide me with tons of practical wisdom for 2025.
So, there you have it—12 books that I can’t wait to read as I step into 2025. If you’re curious about more books I’m considering for the year, I’ve put together a full list here. Check it out for even more inspiration!
